๐Ÿ“ Spec notes โ€” UC-CCM.13 / SCR-CCM.02 (fields, actions, requirements)
Identity
  • Screen: SCR-CCM.02 โ€” Content Editor (Grade & Completion tab)
  • Use case: UC-CCM.13 โ€” Configure Course Grade & Completion
Brief description

This UC covers only the "Grade & Completion" tab of the shared Content Editor screen (SCR-CCM.02). The other 5 tabs (Course Content, Course Settings, Asset Library, Co-Authors, Questions) belong to other use cases (UC-CCM.01, UC-CCM.10, UC-CCM.09, UC-CCM.12) and are not rendered in full here โ€” the tab bar links out to those UCs' own generated pages. Entered from UC-CCM.01 step 5.

Fields
  • delivery_mode "Delivery mode" โ€” enum [self_paced, cohort] ยท always visible ยท fallback self_paced
  • allow_institution_additional_assignment "Allow institutions to add their own assignments" โ€” boolean ยท always visible ยท fallback false
  • grading_mode "Grading mode" โ€” enum [computed, manual] ยท always visible ยท fallback computed
  • pass_threshold "Pass threshold (%)" โ€” number 0โ€“100 ยท visible when grading_mode == computed ยท fallback 60
  • grading_allow_override "Allow grade override" โ€” boolean ยท visible when grading_mode == computed ยท fallback false
  • grade_category_title, grade_category_weight, grade_category_aggregation_method, grade_category_drop_lowest_count โ€” grade category row fields ยท visible when grading_mode == computed
  • grade_category_item_count "Assigned items" โ€” computed, read-only ยท updates in real time as items are assigned/unassigned
  • grade_band_label, grade_band_min_score โ€” grade scale band row fields (optional) ยท visible when grading_mode == computed
  • completion_mode "Completion mode" โ€” enum [all_content_viewed, grade_based] ยท always visible ยท fallback all_content_viewed ยท grade_based unavailable when grading_mode == manual (SCR-CCM.02 AR#25)
  • issue_certificate "Issue certificate on completion" โ€” boolean ยท always visible ยท fallback false (default off)
Actions
  • save_grade_completion "Save" โ€” enabled always ยท triggers UC-CCM.13-M-8
  • cancel_grade_completion "Cancel" โ€” enabled always ยท triggers UC-CCM.13-A-8A-1 ยท discards unsaved changes, reverts to last saved values
  • add_grade_category "Add Category" โ€” enabled when grading_mode == computed ยท triggers UC-CCM.13-M-5
  • remove_grade_category "Remove" โ€” enabled always ยท triggers UC-CCM.13-A-5B-1 ยท confirmation required only when the category has assigned items
  • add_grade_band "Add Band" โ€” enabled when grading_mode == computed ยท triggers UC-CCM.13-A-4B-2
  • remove_grade_band "Remove" โ€” enabled always ยท triggers UC-CCM.13-A-4B.2B-1 ยท remaining bands unaffected
  • Category/band title, weight, aggregation, drop-lowest, and label/min-score fields are directly editable in the table row โ€” no separate "Edit" action; changes save on exit (AF 5A / AF 4B.2A)
Additional requirements
  1. Grade mode semantics (computed/manual) and the category-based aggregation model are defined in SS-CCM.35. "Allow institutions to add assignments" semantics are also defined there. [refs: SS-CCM.35]
  2. Completion mode semantics for both options โ€” and the rule that completion and grading are configured independently โ€” are defined in SS-CCM.36. [refs: SS-CCM.36]
  3. When configuring grade categories, the system warns if the total weight of all categories does not sum to 100%. Warning during authoring only โ€” hard block at submit time applies per SS-CCM.10. [refs: SS-CCM.35, SS-CCM.10]
  4. Certificate issuance (when enabled) is triggered by the course completion condition being met, not by the grade; the LMS checks this setting per learner. Locked in when the course is submitted for review. [refs: SS-CCM.36]
  5. Grade scale bands are optional, computed mode only. When configured, the LMS grade book shows the letter label whose minimum score threshold is met, alongside the numeric score; when not configured, numeric scores only. [refs: (none)]
  6. Grade-based completion cannot be combined with Manual grading mode โ€” the system prevents saving this combination. If completion_mode was grade_based when grading_mode changes to manual, the system resets completion_mode to all_content_viewed and shows a notice (SCR-CCM.02 AR#25).
